James Basic Cleaner is a powerful cleaner/stripper for the periodic thorough cleaning of moisture-resistant hard floors. The product removes stubborn dirt and build-up from old or unsuitable cleaning products, leaving the floor feeling clean again and ready for regular daily maintenance.
James Basic Cleaner restores the floor to the clean condition it was in when it was first laid, ensuring that daily cleaning with James Floor Cleaner Clean & Quick Dry works to its full potential and that the floor retains its beautiful appearance.
Suitable for, amongst others, laminate, vinyl, PVC, LVT, linoleum, ceramic tiles, epoxy floors, rubber, natural stone, engineered stone, poured floors and cork floors, provided the floor is moisture-resistant.
Use James Basic Cleaner when your floor needs more than just a quick mop. How to use James Basic Cleaner
For stubborn/heavy soiling and/or stains and streaks
Dilute James Basic Cleaner with water according to the dosage indicated on the packaging. Apply it with a mop and then lightly scrub the floor with a soft or stiff scrubbing brush. Finally, rinse thoroughly with clean water.
To remove old layers of wax or polish
Apply James Basic Cleaner undiluted and evenly to the floor. Leave the product to work for 10 minutes, but make sure it doesn’t dry out. Next, add warm water and scrub the floor with a soft or stiff scrubbing brush, depending on the surface and how dirty it is.
Remove the loosened dirt using a squeegee and a mop. Then wipe the floor thoroughly with clean water.

How often can I use James Basic Cleaner?
You should only use James Basic Cleaner when your floor really needs it. For example, a few times a year, or when you notice that, despite regular cleaning, the floor is no longer coming up properly clean. How often this is necessary depends on how the floor is used and the level of soiling.
Can I also use James Basic Cleaner on specific areas?
Yes, that’s possible. For localised soiling or a specific area, you can apply James Basic Cleaner to that area. Do make sure you rinse the treated area thoroughly with clean water, so that no traces of the product remain.
Does the floor need to be dry before I apply James Basic Cleaner?
Yes, you’ll get the best results on a dry or slightly damp floor.
First, remove any loose dirt, dust and sand. This allows James Basic Cleaner to work more effectively on the dirt you want to remove.
What should I do if my floor is still sticky or streaky after cleaning?
In that case, not all old residues or contamination may have been removed. Repeat the treatment if necessary and make sure you rinse the floor thoroughly with clean water. Stripes or a sticky feeling often occur precisely because dirt or product residue has not been fully absorbed.
Can I use James Basic Cleaner on a floor with underfloor heating?
Yes, that’s usually fine, provided the floor itself is suitable for wet cleaning. It is best to turn the underfloor heating down temporarily or switch it off whilst cleaning, so that the product does not dry out too quickly whilst it is taking effect.
Our PVC floor always felt a bit sticky after mopping. After one thorough clean with the Basic Cleaner, it had completely disappeared. You can really see the difference.
